The Ibanez TOD10NL-TKF in detail
About Tim Henson
In 2011, Tim Henson founded the band Polyphia with his co-guitarist Scott LePage, bassist Clay Gober, drummer Brandon Burkhalter and singer Lane Duskin. That same year, the group released their debut EP Resurrect . A year later, singer Lane Duskin left the band and Polyphia continued instrumentally. From the very beginning, Tim Henson's inventiveness and his special playing technique were a cornerstone of the Polyphia sounds. After another EP, the band released their debut album Muse in 2014 with the help of crowdfunding. Polyphia were then signed by Equal Vision Records and re-released their debut album in 2015. In the fall of 2015, the band initially went on a US tour with Invent, Animate and the Headliner Erra . In 2022, the band released their fourth studio album , Remember That You Will Die , which features various guest musicians such as Steve Vai. The album peaked at number 33 on the US album charts. The online magazine Loudwire included Remember That You Will Die on their list of the 50 best rock and metal albums of 2022 and chose Playing God as Song of the Year 2022.

You can also rock with nylon strings
Unlike Tim's other signature guitar from Ibanez , the TOD10NL-TKF as a left handed version is an acoustic with nylon strings, but it is no ordinary classical guitar. It has a much flatter body, consisting of a solid Sitka spruce top and bottom and sapele. The sound hole in the rib allows you to hear yourself much better while playing. The neck of the TOD10NL-TKF with a slim C profile is made of Nato, the fretboard is made of walnut and has the eponymous Tree of Life inlay made of mother-of-pearl. The built-in Ibanez AEQ210TF preamp with integrated tuner ensures the perfect sound on the amplifier . The Transparent Black Flat lacquered top, the pearloid body binding and the golden tuning machines perfectly showcase this special instrument and give it an elegant, high-quality look. With this guitar, Tim recorded, among other things, the song Playing God , which you can hear in this video.
Olli asks
Olli also took a closer look at the Ibanez innovations and of course the TOD10N-TKF and asked an Ibanez expert for you questions about the new model . Here you can look at the result and find out which Ibanez model the TOD10N is based on, how it manages to sound so brilliantly good even without a classic sound hole and where the name Tree of Death comes from. The Ibanez FRH series is designed for guitarists who want nylon string sounds and electric guitar-like playability at the same time. The compact and thin body, excellent access to the high frets and the combination of a narrow 46mm nut and a 400mm fretboard radius contribute to excellent playability. The guitars in the series have less feedback as they do not have a sound hole on the body top, making them perfect for stage and home use. The sound port on the body side allows you to feel and hear the pure acoustic tone of this guitar more clearly and directly.
In their short history, the Ibanez FRH concert guitars have not only impressed amateur guitarists, but also many professional players, such as Scott Le Page and Tim Henson from the instrumental band Polyphia. Tim Henson even got his own signature model with the TOD10-N, which is based on the FRH guitars.
The Japanese instrument manufacturer Ibanez can look back on a long tradition in guitar and bass building. While Ibanez initially stood out with idiosyncratic copies of traditional models from manufacturers such as Gibson and Fender , independent series gradually came onto the market, such as the Iceman, JEM, Artcore and RG. In the 1980s, the manufacturer made a name for itself, especially in the heavy sector, with its instruments that shone with modern features, individual design and excellent playability. Innovations such as the 7- and 8-string guitars, which emerged from the fruitful collaboration with artists such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Meshuggah, did the rest to establish Ibanez 's good reputation. Today the manufacturer offers an extensive range, ranging from entry-level guitars and basses to unusual custom shop models. Ibanez also knows how to impress when it comes to effects devices and amplifier model , as the classic TS9 Tubescreamer proves. With us you will find a comprehensive selection of guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and accessories from Ibanez.
