Am Tag vor der alljährlichen NAMM Show präsentiert Taylor Guitars traditionell im Restaurant The Catch in Anaheim, Kalifornien, exklusiv eine Reihe von Custom-Gitarren, die nur auf dieser Veranstaltung erhältlich sind. Tonewoods
The Taylor Custom GS C16ce offers a very exclusive tonewood combination with a body made of sassafras and a top made of torrefied Sitka spruce. Taylor's torrefaction process, in which the guitar's top is artificially aged, simulates some of the warmth that normally only becomes apparent after a certain amount of play-in time. The result is a transparent sound that puts your unique style centre stage. Due to this process, the colour of the spruce is not as light as usual, but slightly darker. The special look of the top goes perfectly with the strikingly grained body made of sassafras.
The top of the Taylor Custom C16ce has a natural high-gloss finish, while the back and sides have a shaded edge burst high-gloss finish. The binding is made of striking red cocobolo wood and stands out visually from the body wood. The Custom Split Diamonds rosette consists of a wave pattern made of cocobolo and ivoroid. A special design feature is the ‘Bound Soundhole’: the soundhole has been elaborately edged with a second ring of cocobolo.
Neck and fretboard
The slim, comfortable to play, patented Taylor neck, which is made from neo-tropical mahogany, features a classic ebony fingerboard, as you would expect from a Taylor guitar. The ebony for the fingerboard comes from sustainable cultivation on Taylor's own plantation in Cameroon. Although the split diamond inlays are visually simple, the manufacturing process itself is very elaborate and complicated. The mahogany neck merges into a headstock with ebony veneer and a mother-of-pearl Taylor logo. Taylor's tried and tested tuners in satin black, whose deliberately simple appearance does not detract from the beautiful grain of the body wood, ensure the right tuning.
A special comfort highlight
Perhaps the biggest highlight, however, is the TaylorSense system: it monitors humidity, temperature, battery life and the guitar's exposure to external influences such as shocks. TaylorSense not only monitors the condition of the guitar, but also sends the data via Bluetooth to the free TaylorSense mobile app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices and sends push notifications when the guitar needs care.
