About Native Instruments

As with almost all large software companies, the story of Native Instruments began with just two people. On the one hand there was Stephan Schmitt, musician and engineer, and Volker Hinz, good friend and programmer. In Berlin Kreuzberg the two created the world's first modular synthesizer. The 'Generator' was a software based instrument and thrilled the audience at the Frankfurt Music Fair. Calculate and play sounds in real time - that was unique.

In the founding year of 1996, the development of new types of software instruments, such as Reaktor, began with just four employees. This all-round plugin has become an industry standard as a sequencer, sampler, synthesizer and effects device. Develop your own sounds? A dream for every sound tinkerer!
