A real workhorse
The new Mesa/Boogie Mark Five 35, available in both the traditional compact Boogie 1x12 combo and 19" head format , offers a sort of greatest hits collection of the most famous Mesa/Boogie Mark Series circuits from three decades.
After a 35-year tradition of 4xEL84-based power supply with successful models such as the Caliber, Maverick, Nomad and Lone Star , Mesa/Boogie is proud to introduce the Mark Five 35. This surprisingly lightweight amplifier is an improved version of Mesa's recent hit, the much smaller Mark Five: 25 , and like that, the new 35 far outperforms its competition.
To make the new Mark Five: 35 even more suitable for the stage, it features a channel-independent solo function, all-tube reverb, the complete voicing selection of the Mesa/Boogie CabClone™ with the additional Vintage setting for the integrated DI output and a Improved footswitch to access the new footswitchable options. This new mix gives you the most adaptable Mark amplifier yet.
Dyna-Watt™ technology and other features
Thanks to Dyna-Watt™ technology in the Multi-Watt™ Channel Assignable Power Array, this performance-oriented model offers significantly more headroom, punch and power at 35 watts, while the two low-power options at 25 and 10 watts offer a looser feel and a Provide improved power clip sound . Each of the three power levels has its own sonic character and can be used to make the tonal styles you are aiming for even more authentic through your choice of mode and preamp settings.
The performance ranges and circuit types are:
- 35 watts (Dyna-Watt Power)
- 25 watts (Dyna-Watt Power)
- 10 watts (Class AB triode)
The Mark Five: 35, like the Mark Five from which it emerged, is a collection of iconic amplifiers. It tells the life story of MESA/Boogie, so to speak. Channel 1 covers the entire gain spectrum, from sparkling clean sounds to wild edge-of-clip to classic rock crunch and burning, rich lead sounds. Channel 2 delivers the legendary Mark II-C+ and the warmer, rounder Mark IV in all its glory, as well as the Mark Five's Xtreme mode.
You will find the following useful features in the Mesa/Boogie Mark Five 35:
- 6 selectable sound modes (Clean, Fat, Crunch, Mark IIC+, Mark IV, Xtreme)
- Vintage all-tube spring reverb with great sustain and independent controls per channel
- Integrated Mesa CabClone™ Cab Simulator with internal amp load, headphone output, closed back & open back simulations, speaker on/off and ground lift switches
- power can be reduced from 35 watts to 25 watts or 10 watts
- fully buffered effects loop
To round out the two-channel preamp with six modes and the powerful power amplifier , the Mark Five: 35 is available as both a traditional 19" boogie- size head and a portable 1x12 combo . The head can be used with one or more Mesa speakers and the combo can be paired with an additional loudspeaker to achieve greater range . To complement this top, we recommend the loudspeaker from the Mesa/Boogie Boogie Cabs series . This series combines the best of all Mesa/Boogie Cabinet lines and combines their specifications into a new series of open-back cabinets.
All Mesa/Boogie Mark amplifier are manufactured in Petaluma, California. The Mesa/Boogie Mark Five: 35 comes with a 4-button footswitch and a matching amp cover.

In the late 1960s, Randall Smith, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most famous amplifier repairers, was inspired to build his own amplifier model after learning to appreciate the tweed circuits of the 1950s. He loved their organic sound, the effective controls , and the way the sound changed smoothly from clean to distortion and back again when the gain control was turned.
In order to advance with his own amplifier designs and concepts, he settled in Pentaluma, California in 1969 and worked on further developing his amplifier model.
The typical, heavily distorted sound of his Mesa/Boogie amplifier model was initially the result of an electrically incorrectly dimensioned preamplifier. The company's founder, Randall Smith, was unsure whether the pre-amp would have enough power to drive the amplifier , so he designed it with four double triodes, of which the first seven triodes are still used today to amplification the input signal.
Many years later , Mesa/Boogie has become one of the major global players in the market for high-quality guitar and bass amplifiers and is a leader in the development of modern amp designs and circuits. The American company also holds several patents on special features and circuits, such as Multi-Watt™, Dyna-Watt™ and the Mesa CabClone™ Cab Simulator, which you are sure to come across when browsing through our selection of Mesa/Boogie products become.
Of course, a manufacturer of such innovative and high-quality products has now also been able to gather a large fan base among professional musicians who are enthusiastic about Mesa/Boogie amps. The most famous users of Mesa/Boogie amps include the aforementioned Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton, Angus Young, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson, Keith Richards, Pete Townshend, Adam Jones, Mark Tremonti and Dave Grohl. Of course, these are by no means all the famous Mesa/Boogie users and Mesa/Boogie also has a large and constantly growing fan base among studio musicians and hobby guitarists. Maybe you too will soon be part of the next generation of the Mesa/Boogie fan community?
