Isn't that really a 4x12?
No, it's actually "just" a 2x12 loudspeaker box! For fans of slant cab style and tone, look no further than the Mesa/Boogie Rectifier 2x12 Vertical Slant Cabinet. With roughly the same internal surface area as the horizontal 2x12 Recto box, the overall sound, punch and level of detail is similar, but some players prefer a slant box because of the "monitoring" effect provided by the slightly upward-tilted top loudspeaker. If you can't take a 4x12 to the gig or session, the 2x12 Recto Vertical Slant Cab offers a similar sound, without the size and weight... and the styling and huge tone will probably make most people think it's a 4x12 Box is.
All Mesa/Boogie enclosure are made from the finest, best quality, non-porous Baltic birch wood. The speaker walls are provided and braced with a high-quality connecting construction. The grids are wrapped around a separate grid board. The grid material is made of strong twisted jute dipped in a special coating that filters the upper frequencies for better response.

In the late 1960s, Randall Smith, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most famous amplifier repairers, was inspired to build his own amplifier model after learning to appreciate the tweed circuits of the 1950s. He loved their organic sound, the effective controls , and the way the sound changed smoothly from clean to distortion and back again when the gain control was turned.
In order to advance with his own amplifier designs and concepts, he settled in Pentaluma, California in 1969 and worked on further developing his amplifier model.
The typical, heavily distorted sound of his Mesa/Boogie amplifier model was initially the result of an electrically incorrectly dimensioned preamplifier. The company's founder, Randall Smith, was unsure whether the pre-amp would have enough power to drive the amplifier , so he designed it with four double triodes, of which the first seven triodes are still used today to amplification the input signal.
Many years later , Mesa/Boogie has become one of the major global players in the market for high-quality guitar and bass amplifiers and is a leader in the development of modern amp designs and circuits.
