The Meinl Sonic Energy Octave Steel Tongue Drum is made of high-quality stainless steel.
It has a central bass tone in the middle, which is surrounded by eight other tones. These eight tone fields each consist of two tongues that reproduce the tone in two octaves. This creates a wonderful, meditative sound that is similar to that of a handpan.
At the bottom of the drum is the sound hole, which can be closed with a silicone plug to make the sound sound even more compact. There are also three silicone feet on the bottom to prevent the drum from slipping. You can play the Octave Steel Tongue Drum with mallets or, if desired, with your fingers. Simply place the drum on a flat surface or on your lap to start playing.

Meinl Sonic Energy
The Meinl Sonic Energy series includes a remarkable selection of planetary-tuned gongs and musical instruments, including tam tams, tone sticks, tuning forks, singing bowls and bells. In addition to the respective instruments, you will also find a variety of accessories such as carrying cases, stands, covers, mallets and care sets in our online shop. All instruments in the Sonic Energy collection are handcrafted masterpieces from the well-known manufacturer Meinl, which serve esoteric purposes and are primarily application in meditation, sound massage, yoga and sound therapy. The instruments help bring life into harmony with the cosmic universe. Both the gongs, the tone sticks, tuning forks and some tam tams are made by hand in the traditional European way and are "Made in Germany". They are precisely tuned to the frequency of the moon, sun and planets. During production , Meinl relies on the calculations of the Swiss mathematician and musicologist Hans Cousto, who discovered the natural law of the cosmic octave in 1978. To determine the frequency, calculations are made based on the rotation and orbit times of the planets. With each tone, the corresponding frequency of the celestial body is reproduced to create a special effect. In total, the instruments in the Sonic Energy series are tuned to 16 different frequencies: from the sun, the earth and the moon, through Neptune and Saturn to the Platonic year and the synodic day.
