Nautilus ist die neue Music Workstation aus dem Hause Korg. Dank der aufgeräumten Bedienoberfläche, hat man einen hervorragenden Überblick auf alle Bereiche, schnellen Zugriff auf exzellente Klänge, bei einem kontinuierlichen Workflow. Über das 7-Zoll-TouchView-Farbdisplay mit 800x480 Pixeln, lassen sich Sounds kinderleicht auswählen und alle wichtigen Parameter einstellen. Die Such- und Vorhörfunktion im Nautilus erleichtert es einem, seinen gewünschten Klang in der Bibliothek zu finden. Lieblingsklänge lassen sich als Favorit kennzeichnen. Darüber hinaus können sechs frei programmierbare Quick-Access-Taster zu bestimmten Menüs oder häufig benutzten Funktionen führen.
Unter der Haube sorgt die weiterentwickelte Prozessorgeneration der KRONOS-Technologie für ordentlich Schubkraft. Die neun Sound-Engines stellen zusätzliche Klänge und erweiterte Funktionen für exzellenten Klang bereit. Alle Klänge der Nautilus Workstation sind in drei übergeordneten Kategorien abgelegt. Man kann zwischen einzigartigen, aktuellen und Standard-Sounds auswählen.
Hat man seinen Klang erstmal gefunden, lässt sich dieser – wie es sich für eine ausgewachsene Workstation gehört – natürlich noch mit einer Vielzahl an Möglichkeiten bearbeiten. 16 Effektprozessoren, 3-Band-EQ und versenkbare Echtzeit- sowie Dynamikregler lassen sich schnell und intuitiv erreichen. Zu jeder Zeit stehen einem dabei ein polyphoner Arpeggiator mit über 1.500 Presets, ein Drum-Track mit über 1.200 Patterns sowie ein programmierbarer Step-Sequenzer in seinem Kreativprozess zur Verfügung. Der Nautilus ermöglicht es einem, alle getätigten Einstellungen für den Live-Einsatz zu konfigurieren, abzuspeichern und diese später erneut über den Set-List-Modus abzurufen. Als wichtiges Feature bei der Soundauswahl wäre noch die Smooth Sound Transitions (SST) Funktion zu erwähnen. Diese verhindert unabhängig vom Modus Dropouts beim Soundwechsel: Sounds werden nicht mehr abgebrochen, sondern klingen auf natürliche Weise aus.
Neben den gängigen MIDI- und Audio-Anschlussmöglichkeiten auf der Rückseite einer jeden Workstation, können bei dem Nautilus handelsübliche USB-Controller angeschlossen werden. So können z.B. mit Controllern wie dem nanoPAD2 Drumparts eingespielt werden.
Die Korg Nautilus Workstation-Serie gibt es in drei Varianten. Zur Auswahl stehen je ein Modell mit 61 oder 73 leicht gewichteten Tasten und natürlich das Flaggschiff der Serie. Das 88er Nautilus Modell ist mit der besten und vierfach abgestuften Hammermechanik-Tastatur RH3 sowie mit edlen Seitenteilen aus Holz ausgestattet. Alle Modelle sind ein optisches Statement und ein echter Hingucker auf jeder Bühne oder in jedem Studio.
