Bei Ibanez wollte man den ikonischen Tube Screamer weiterentwickeln, mit einer Neukonzeptionierung des handverdrahteten Aushängeschild-Modells. Jede Komponente wurde neu bewertet und dabei versucht, dem transparenten und auf die Mitten fokussierten Klang des Pedals treu zu bleiben. Nach zahlreichen Prototypen kam man zu dem Schluss, dass der JRC NJM4558 Op-Amp unerlässlich ist, um den legendären Sound des Tube Screamer zu erreichen. Gleichzeitig ist dieses neue Design in der Lage, ein breiteres Spektrum an Sounds zu erzeugen, dank der Verwendung von High-End-Komponenten wie MOGAMI OFC-Kabeln, die die Vorteile eines handverdrahteten Pedals noch verstärken. Außerdem wurde die Endstufe des Schaltkreises mit einem Boost versehen, der den maximalen Ausgangspegel um +6 dB erhöht. Auch das Aussehen wurde überarbeitet und verleiht dem Pedal ein hochwertiges Erscheinungsbild, wobei die traditionelle Form beibehalten wurde.
