About Joe Satriani
Joe Satriani, also known as Satch, is an American rock guitarist, composer and songwriter who, in addition to his solo career, is also known for his band projects G3 and Chickenfoot.
Joe was born in New York in 1956 and became aware of rock music through the death of Jimi Hendrix. This event inspired him to teach himself to play the guitar. After graduating from high school, he studied jazz music with guitarist Billy Bauer and pianist Lennie Tristano. The latter in particular still influences Joe's musical and playing style today.
During and after his studies, Joe worked as a guitar teacher, and his students included his friend Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Kevin Cadogan, Alex Skolnick and numerous other guitarists who later became real celebrities.
After playing in several bands, Joe recorded his first solo album Not of This Earth, which was released in 1986. His second album Surfing with the Alien followed a year later and contained numerous songs that were regularly played on US radio. To date, Joe has recorded a total of 18 studio albums and is of course still very active on the rock scene. He is also a member of the two hard rock supergroups G3 and Chickenfoot and was on tour with Deep Purple for a while.
His playing is characterised by his very vocal melody lines as well as his fast solo passages, which are often filled with his characteristic, fluid legato playing, as well as his virtuoso use of tapping. He uses various scales as a guide, with the Lydian, Mixolydian and blues scales usually taking centre stage.
Joe's favourite on stage
While Joe usually relies on classic electric guitars in the studio, his Ibanez signature models, which you can recognise by the letters JS at the beginning of the model name, set the tone on stage. The Ibanez JS 2450-MCP is one of these instruments. It consists of an alder body with a three-piece neck made of maple and bubinga wood and is equipped with Joe's favourite pickups: A DiMarzio® Satch Track™ humbucker in single-coil format on the neck and a DiMarzio® Mo' Joe™ humbucker in the bridge position. A high pass filter for both pickups can be engaged using the push/pull pot. The Ibanez JS 2450-MCP is manufactured in Japan and comes in a high-quality hard-shell case. A multitool is also included in the scope of delivery.

The Japanese instrument manufacturer Ibanez can look back on a long tradition in guitar and bass building. While Ibanez initially stood out with idiosyncratic copies of traditional models from manufacturers such as Gibson and Fender , independent series gradually came onto the market, such as the Iceman, JEM, Artcore and RG. In the 1980s, the manufacturer made a name for itself, especially in the heavy sector, with its instruments that shone with modern features, individual design and excellent playability. Innovations such as the 7- and 8-string guitars, which emerged from the fruitful collaboration with artists such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Meshuggah, did the rest to establish Ibanez 's good reputation. Today the manufacturer offers an extensive range, ranging from entry-level guitars and basses to unusual custom shop models. Ibanez also knows how to impress when it comes to effects devices and amplifier model , as the classic TS9 Tubescreamer proves. With us you will find a comprehensive selection of guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and accessories from Ibanez.
