Introducing: Your Dream Instrument from Gibson

Every info for your decision
By the end of 1953, a more luxurious version was launched, probably at the express request of Les Paul himself, as he wanted a more luxurious and classy looking guitar. He requested a black guitar as he wanted it to "look like a tuxedo". The guitar, called “Black Beauty”, had a mahogany body and neck, an ebony fingerboard and mother-of-pearl block inlays on the fingerboard. The split diamond inlay on the headstock was taken from the carved Archtop Super 400. The pickups were a P-90 in the bridge position and an Alnico V pickup newly developed by Seth Lover in the neck position.
In mid-1957, Gibson began equipping the Les Paul Custom with the new PAF pickup developed by Seth Lover. Most Customs had three PAF pickups, although there were a few that had the traditional two-pickup configuration. The Gibson Custom Shop got inspired by these guitars and now presents you with a very special Custom Shop one-off that is modelled on a vintage Les Paul Custom.
The Gibson 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue Ultra Light Aged Ebony Murphy Lab is a classic single cut-style electric guitar with a mahogany body an a maple top. Mahogany was already used in the original Les Paul guitars and provides the basis for the perfect vintage sound. The mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard features a Authentic '68 Medium C-shape profile and a classic flat fretboard radius of 12”. The guitar is equipped with a classic H-H pickup combination of a Gibson 68 Custom Humbucker on the bridge and a Gibson 68 Custom Humbucker on the neck. Other features include gold plated Kluson Single Line tuners, black top hat knobs with silver reflecctors, an ABR-1 bridge with stop bar and a 3-ply black pickguard.
This model is finished in a classic ebony. It has been carefully hand-aged in Tom Murphy's famous Murphy Lab to give the guitar the feel and look of an instrument that has been played for years. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish ensures that the wood can vibrate particularly well and that the lacquer finish ages more beautifully. We all know the stories of old guitars that were found in grandma's attic and barely played. This is the Ultra Light Aged. It's in great condition with very little signs of use, but it has aged perfectly over time. A few light scratches adorn the finish, the plastic on the pickguard and pickups has begun to take on that unmistakable yellow tint, and there is minimal tarnishing on the hardware. The Ultra Light Aged gives you the feeling of playing a long lost treasure.
The Gibson 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue Ultra Light Aged Ebony Murphy Lab comes with a certificate of authenticity in a luxurious original Gibson Custom Shop case, which you can use to transport your new dream guitar safely and protect it from external influences.

About Gibson
