Focal is a French company based in Saint-Étienne. What began in 1979 in a small workshop with just two employees as a medium-sized family business that focused on specializing in precision engineering, culminated in the development and production of high-quality hi-fi audio systems for the home and car, studio monitors and headphones .
With the clear goal of positioning itself in the high-end market, the company developed numerous patents over the years, which gave them a good reputation among hi-fi enthusiasts in the areas of hi-fi loudspeaker and car audio . The luxury speaker models of the "Utopia" series marked a turning point in the company's history in 1995. The Hi-Fi loudspeaker redefined the boundaries of acoustics and set new standards for future generations of speakers.
Driven by their recipe for success, the company went one better in the 2000s and complemented their creative approach with the element of aesthetics. They managed to combine attractive industrial design with technological aspects without sacrificing the consistent sound quality.
In 2002, another division was added to the product portfolio of the successful company. The "Focal Professional" department was founded and from then on concentrated on the development and production of studio monitors for recording studios.
As is typical for Focal , it didn't take long until the new studio monitor division was highly praised by experts and sound engineers.
As the icing on the cake , Focal was honored with a special award in 2014. They have been awarded the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Enterprise) label by the French state. "Made in France" remains Focal's philosophy today and is the perfect solution for bundling the conception, development and production of its high-end products at a single location.
After the successes in the areas of home and car audio and the studio monitor division, which currently gave us the "Shape series" as well as the completion of the popular "Alpha Evo series" with the additional subwoofer "Sub One", FOCAL continued continues its innovations to tackle other trends in music listening.
The product range has been expanded to include high-fidelity and high-quality studio headphones such as the Focal Clear Professional or the Focal Clear MG Professional .
It will be interesting to see how Focal 's French success story turns out.
