The Fender Mike McCready Stratocaster in detail
About the artist
Mike McCready started playing guitar at the age of 11. In eighth grade, he joined a cover band. After the band ended, he stopped playing guitar for a while and started studying. However, a friend convinced him to return to music. In 1990 he founded the band Pearl Jam with his school friend Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament. The band's debut album Ten brought them into the mainstream and became one of the best-selling alternative albums of the 1990s. Mike McCready frequently appeared as a soloist and gave Pearl Jam's music a blues touch. He plays by ear and is known more for his feel than virtuoso techniques. The single Jeremy was nominated for the 1993 Grammy Awards in the categories of Best Rock Song and Best Hard Rock Performance. Pearl Jam received four awards at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards for the music video for Jeremy . On Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, Ten was ranked number 207 and Jeremy was ranked number 11 on the list of the 100 Greatest songs of the '90s. Mike can now look back on a long career spanning ten studio albums.
