About Cory Wong
His intuitive understanding of funk is almost magical, his imaginative guitar parts sparkle with creativity: guitarist, producer and arranger Cory Wong is best known for his work with the bands Vulfpeck and The Fearless Flyers , but his impressive solo works have also been recorded for the Grammy nominated. He has a loyal fan base and of course plays in front of sold-out halls. The Cory Wong Stratocaster is a tribute to Cory's favorite Fender guitar. The experienced guitar makers at Fender have given it a few modifications that are tailored precisely to the wishes of the funk master.
Small but powerful
The satin lacquer finish is based on the look and feel of Cory's beloved original Strat. The alder body not only looks smaller than a normal Strat, it is actually more delicately crafted. In combination with the “Modern D” neck profile and the recessed body contours, this Strat nestles super gently and comfortably against the body when playing. A set of Seymour Duncan Cory Wong Clean Machine pickups gives the instrument the coveted, bell-clear, present Strat voice. Of course, they are tuned to reproduce Cory's signature tone. The maple neck flows into a slightly modified headstock, the rosewood fretboard has rounded edges and a dynamic compound radius from 10" to 14". The strings run over a synchronized six-fold Vintage -style tremolo with six saddles and are kept in tuning by deluxe locking tuners. The Tone 2 controls has a push/push function that can be used to bypass the 5-way switch and switch the pickups to position 4. The neck plate is also a custom design. Rubber washers for the straplock are also included. The Cory Wong Sognature Strat is available in Sapphire Blue and, in limited editions, also in Daphne Blue and Sea Foam Green.
