Introducing: Your Dream Instrument from Fender
Every info for your decision
In 1954, after a long development period, the Fender Stratocaster was finally launched on the market. The instrument looked like no guitar before it: The body appeared curvier and more flowing than that of the Telecaster and was intended to increase playing comfort, the new headstock was somewhat reminiscent of the old Bigsby headstocks, the jack socket was elegantly recessed in the side of the body instead of on the top and the Strat was equipped with three single-coil pickups. The guitar consisted of an ash body and a bolt-on maple neck and was initially only available with a 2-colour sunburst or white blonde finish. In the beginning, however, it was not a big seller, but gradually the Strat became more and more popular and became an integral part of music history.
Initially, the Stratocaster was only available in the two colours mentioned above, but from 1957 the first Custom Colours were introduced, which allowed customers to order a more colourful guitar for an extra charge. In 1959, the Strat, together with the Telecaster, was given a facelift: The bodies were now made of alder wood and the maple necks were fitted with rosewood fingerboards, which provided a warmer overall sound. New colours were also added to the existing custom colours.
The Fender Custom Shop has set itself the task of studying the high-quality vintage Stratocasters of yesteryear and reproducing them down to the smallest detail. Here we have a very special Custom Shop one-off for you, modelled on a Stratocaster from Fender's heyday:
The Fender Custom Shop 1963 Stratocaster Relic Aged Lake Placid Blue Metallic is a classic ST-style electric guitar with an alder body. Alder wood was already used in the original Stratocaster guitars since the end of the 1950s and provides the basis for the perfect vintage sound. The aged maple neck with a rosewood fretboard features an Oval "C" profile in the style of the 60s and a fretboard radius of 9,5", which offers the perfect compromise between vintage feel and modern comfort. The guitar is equipped with a classic S-S-S pickup combination of three Fender Custom Shop Handwound 60/63 Strat single coils. Other features include Fender Custom Shop Handwound 60/63 Strat Vintage style tuners, Parchment pickup covers an poti knobs, a Fender Synchronized Tremolo bridge and a 3-ply mint green pickguard.
This model is finished in an eye-catching Lake Placid Blue Metallic. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish ensures that the wood can vibrate particularly well and that the lacquer finish ages more beautifully. The guitar is beautifully dinged, dented and even a little scratched. One of the most attractive features of this Relic stage is the worn neck. You'll feel the raw wood under your hand, giving you the comfort of your favourite pair of worn-in sneakers. As soon as you pick up a Relic, you'll feel like you've been playing it for years.
The Fender Custom Shop 1963 Stratocaster Relic Aged Lake Placid Blue Metallic comes with a certificate of authenticity in a luxurious original Fender Custom Shop Black Tolex case with red interior, allowing you to safely transport your new dream guitar and protect it from external influences.
