Product information

The Fender American Vintage II series is not only visually inspired by the historic designs that made music history. We have also reproduced many details typical of the era exactly: Bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and pickups that are carefully matched to the tone of the original model year. Thanks to traditional Fender craftsmanship, each instrument embodies the authentic character and sound of the original model.

The Jazzmaster was originally conceived as a pure jazz guitar, equipped with ‘all the well-known Fender developments’ and offering ‘all the comforts’, as they said at the time. The high level of playing comfort was intended to make the solid-bodied electric guitar appealing to discerning jazz musicians. After all, our new contoured offset was light years away from the bulky archtop model that was common at the time. But the spark didn't catch on with the jazz musicians. Instead, musicians in the 60s surf scene and later also in indie rock, alternative and country were enthusiastic about the Jazzmaster.

The American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster is fitted with a comfortable maple neck in C profile, which plays wonderfully smoothly. Vintage Tall Frets sit on the Round Lam rosewood fingerboard with a 7.25’ radius. Typical of the 1966 production year are the pearloid block inlays, the white neck binding, the single line ‘Fender Deluxe’ tuners and the matching lacquered headstock (Custom colours only.) Indispensable for the true Fender playing feel: Fender's patented ‘Floating’ tremolo with adjustable bridge and threaded string adjusters, Pure Vintage ‘66 Jazzmaster pickups and the specific lead and rhythm circuits.

The American Vintage II series brings back classic Fender models in their original form. Ideal for musicians who love our vintage tone and feel and appreciate the highest quality - down to the last screw.
