The Epiphone Jerry Cantrell Wino Les Paul Custom in detail
About the artist
Together with bassist Mike Starr, singer Layne Staley and drummer Sean Kinney, Jerry Cantrell founded the band Alice in Chains in the late 1980s, in which he took on the roles of guitarist, singer and main songwriter. When the future of Alice In Chains was uncertain due to the singer's personal problems, Jerry Cantrell released his first solo album Boggy Depot in 1998, on which he collaborated with musicians from the bands Fishbone, Pantera and Primus , among others. In 2002, after Layne Staley died, his second album Degradation Trip followed, which he dedicated to the deceased. It was a collaboration with two musicians who had previously formed Ozzy Osbourne's rhythm section.
Inspired by Jerry Cantrell's legendary Gibson Les Paul Custom, this guitar features many custom details including a Dark Wine Red finish over a simple maple top and a weight-reduced 9-hole mahogany body, gold hardware, Grover Rotomatic Kidney tuners, an Alnico Classic PRO humbucker with gold cover in the neck position and a 98T PRO humbucker with exposed coil in the bridge position. The mahogany neck has a Cantrell custom taper. Jerry Cantrell's name is written in white on the trussrod cover; A JJ logo can also be seen on the back of the headstock.
