The Pico Deep Freeze sound Retainer is a mix of the original Freeze and Superego pedals. With the ability to freeze a moment in sound , the Deep Freeze can serve as a sustain pedal for holding chords and notes to support your playing or as a means to manipulate your sounds into new sounds impossible with a regular guitar . In addition to the capabilities of the original Freeze, the Deep Freeze offers layering, adjustable attack/decay speeds, glissando, volume controls and three modes: Latch, Moment and Auto, making it a powerful pedal with functionality far beyond its size .
The Deep Freeze allows you to instantly freeze the sound in three operating modes. Latch mode freezes the sound each time the footswitch is pressed until the effect is bypassed, while Momentary mode only freezes the sound as long as the footswitch is held down. In Auto mode, the sound is automatically frozen as soon as a signal above the threshold is detected, virtually eliminating the need to press the footswitch . These three modes make it easy to operate the Deep Freeze to suit any playing style.
You can use the Deep Freeze controls to further customize how the effect works. The separate DRY and EFFECT volume controls can be used to mix signals from subtle backing to true effect experiments. GLISS regulates the morph time between the freeze sounds , creating extraordinary sound worlds. The SPEED/LAYER controls determines either the attack/decay time of the effect in Momentary and Auto modes , or the quantity of possible layers in Latch mode, which allows unusual chords to be played.
