This compact bass head offers ambitious bassists the next generation of sound . Based on decades of Boss development experience and powered by a 500 watt Class D power amplifier, the amplifier model produces an incredibly clear, powerful and dynamic sound. The Cab Resonance function goes one step further. With the high-tech calibration, you can precisely tune the amplifier's power output to your preferred speaker cabinet.
Cabinet calibration at the touch of a button
Each loudspeaker cabinet has its own characteristic impedance curve and an individual frequency response. These elements influence the behavior of the connected amplifier. The Cab Resonance function of the Katana-500 Bass head calibrates the reactive output stage of the amplifier at the push of a button and adapts it to the specific characteristics of the connected loudspeaker cabinet. To do this, the Katana-500 Bass head uses a unique process in which numerous elements are analyzed, including the lowest frequency that the enclosure can produce, resonances in the high frequency range and many other factors. The output is dynamically adjusted based on this information. The result is outstanding responsiveness, powerful bass and a defined sound at all times.
Shape your basic sound
The Katana-500 Bass head offers a variety of options for refining your own sound . Edit frequencies with the active 4-band EQ and choose from three low-mid and high-mid frequency bands to control specific frequency ranges. The bottom controls can be used to adapt the bass range to different stages. The high-cut toggle switches offers three different settings to soften sharp sound peaks in the highs. You can also change the sound character of your amplifier at the touch of a button with the shape button. There are three frequency curves to choose from: mid-range, bright and wideband.
More color / finish and character
Once you've found your basic bass sound, you can refine it even further with additional sound tools. Amp Feel offers two selectable options to adapt the basic sound to different styles of music. "Modern" extends the frequency response and dynamic response, while "Vintage" recreates the warm, characteristic sound of the old classic amplifiers. compressor and Drive types are also available to control the dynamics and give the sound more dirt and aggressiveness. In the FX section you'll find three bass effects that give your sound more color / finish and invite you to experiment. Finally, there's a Blend controls that you can use to mix in the direct signal and give your sound more clarity.
Various connection options
Despite its compact design, the Boss Katana-500 Bass head offers a wide range of connection options. The two lockable speaker outputs are specially designed to edition high voltages, while the XLR line output allows you to play a PA signal in parallel, which can be tapped at various positions in the signal path (direct, pre, post) of the amplifier. You can also shape the signal at the line output on the front using three presets with emulated speaker microphones and three custom settings. There is also a multifunctional output for practicing with headphones or for analog recordings, as well as a USB output for recording tracks in your favorite music software on the computer.
