Classic sound and modern power – the DM-101 delay Machine is the ultimate analog delay. Powered by eight bucket brigade memories (BBD) and controlled by a powerful processor, the DM-101 offers twelve delay modes, true stereo operation and a large selection of sounds / tones based on completely analog signal processing. With 127 user memories, tap tempo, carryover, midi and more, the DM-101 combines the functionality of a modern digital delay with the lively, characterful sound of an analog bucket brigade delay.
In the 1970s, analog delays based on BBD microchips (bucket chain memories) were developed as a compact and cost-effective alternative to the tape delays that were common up to that point. With their warm, saturated and extremely musical sound , they established a distinctive delay style that is still appreciated by countless musicians and sound engineers today. The DM-101 expands this classic effect with modern processor control, offering musicians a variety of new possibilities.
The DM-101 moves effortlessly and seamlessly between grainy Vintage echoes and modern analog delay sounds with an extended high frequency range. Various internal circuit elements are available for changing the twelve modes . Depending on the mode selected, the quantity and connection of the active bucket brigade memories as well as the settings of the low-pass filter and the clock rates are adjusted. The variation controls controls several parameters at the same time - individually compiled according to the respective mode. You can also set the delays to self-oscillation and saturation at any time using the intensity controls .
Thanks to the processor control of the DM-101, sophisticated stereo sounds can be achieved that are not possible with other analog bucket brigade delays. For example, pan mode routes each bucket brigade memory and its feedback loop to changing positions in the stereo field, while Dual mode changes the modulation phase for each output to create a large, spatial delay effect . Six of the twelve modes support stereo operation and enable the complete spectrum, from short, reverb-like sounds to expansive, modulated delays to pattern delays for pronounced rhythmic effects.
The DM-101 offers all the creative advantages of a modern delay pedal. Tap tempo and note divisions are available in most modes . In addition, the carryover function ensures clean repeats when the effect is switched to bypass . You can store your favorite setups on the four integrated storage spaces and quickly retrieve them when needed. Up to two foot switches or an expression pedal can also be connected for extended real-time control. Via midi i/o, the DM-101 offers access to 127 user presets, midi sync and more. The audio outputs are configured for mix operation by default, but can be quickly and easily customized for use in wet/dry rigs and operation in parallel wet-only setups.
The following delay modes are represented in the DM-101:
- Classic - A traditional, warm analog delay sound with up to 1200 ms delay time. You can use the Variation controls to switch between triangle, sine and more complex waveforms to adjust the modulation behavior.
- Vintage - Analogue retro delay sound, inspired by the legendary BOSS DM-2 delay pedal from 1981. Using the variation controls you can switch between triangle, sine and more complex waveforms to adjust the modulation behavior.
- Modern - Uniquely transparent analogue delay sound with a characteristic, high-pitched sound and up to 840 ms delay time. You can use the Variation controls to switch between triangle, sine and more complex waveforms to adjust the modulation behavior.
- Multi- head - Emulation of a tape delay with multiple heads and a unique, analogue bucket brigade sound character. With the Variation controls you can choose between ten different head combinations.
- Non-Linear - A unique effect that creates short successive delays (35-190 ms) that gradually increase in volume. With the Variation controls you control the delay times behind the original delay.
- Ambience - Simulates a small room. The Variation controls controls the room size and early reflections.
- Reflect - A stereo delay sound that creates a reverb-like effect . The Variation controls controls the Pre- delay.
- Doubling + delay - A stereo effect that combines a doubled sound with a longer delay . You can use the variation controls to control the balancing of the two sounds at the stereo output.
- Wide - A stereo delay with left/right offset delay settings for a wide sound. Use the Variation controls to set the offset delay value.
- Dual Mod - A stereo delay with different modulation phase settings for the left and right outputs. The variation controls controls the phase component (at maximum setting the Phase is completely inverted).
- pan - A stereo tap delay with different delay times for distribution in the stereo field. You can use the variation controls to adjust the proportions of the individual delays.
- Pattern - stereo- delay with different rhythmic patterns. You can use the Variation controls to choose from ten available pattern types.
