Cleaning and care of woodwind instruments
The session guides for beginners
In this guides you will find all the important information you need to clean and care for your woodwind instrument. If you have any questions beyond the guides , we will of course be happy to help you in person, by phone or by email at any time.
1. Regular cleaning after playing
Disassemble the instrument and clean it with a microfiber wiper specifically for the mouthpiece, body and saxophone neck . To do this, pull the appropriate wiper through the body, S-arms and mouthpiece several times to remove any residual moisture and guarantee the longevity of the pad and the entire instrument.
Clean the body and the saxophone neck or the clarinet with the respective wiper.
For transverse flutes, the individual parts should be cleaned inside using a special cleaning cloth and the flute stick provided for this purpose.
Pull-through wipers, cloths, etc.
Pull-through wipers are the right tool for getting the moisture out of the instrument and cleaning it from the inside.

2. Regular oiling of the mechanics
It is recommended to apply oil directly to the column on the axis approximately every six months.
Flap oils
Key oils prevent corrosion and wear and ensure a functional instrument and smooth playing behavior.
3. Grease the tenon corks
Apply the cork grease to the cones with your finger and rub it in.

Cork fats
Cork grease prevents the cork from drying out and becoming brittle, allowing for trouble-free assembly.

4. Polish silver-plated parts
The silver cleaning cloth is an excellent way to polish up oxidized areas of silver instruments and individual parts. Attention: Polishing cloths remove a very thin layer - a microfiber cloth is therefore sufficient for everyday cleaning.
5. Upholstery care
First remove any deposits from the pad with cleaning paper and then treat it with talc-coated powder paper to prevent the keys from sticking and “smacking”. To do this, place the paper between the key and the tone hole and close the key several times - no extra effort is required.
