String instruments should be handled with care and caution. There are a few points to bear in mind so that you can enjoy them for a long time. In this guide, you will learn how to transport your instruments safely and carefully to the gig or rehearsal room in order to prolong their life and maintain their quality - and therefore the fun of playing!

Cases

They are made of robust materials such as wood or ABS plastic and are softly lined on the inside to keep the instrument securely in place. Sturdy latches, lockable snap locks and carrying handles ensure safety. Despite their higher weight, cases are indispensable for protecting and transporting valuable instruments under difficult conditions.

- Reduce string tension: Reduce the string tension slightly to take the strain off the neck, especially when travelling long distances.
- Secure loose parts: Remove and secure all loose parts such as tremolo levers, straps or cables.
- Padding: Additional padding around sensitive areas such as the head or neck can provide extra protection.
- Transport in the vehicle: Lay the instrument flat and well secured in the boot or on the back seat. Do not stack heavy objects on top of the case.
- Transport by plane: Try to take the instrument with you as hand luggage. Many airlines allow this, but check the guidelines in advance. If the instrument has to be checked in, mark it as fragile and use a sturdy hard case. You should also consider transport insurance.
