About Joe Bonamassa

Joe Bonamassa needs no introduction, his career is certainly unique. Joe is an American blues and blues rock guitarist, singer, composer and songwriter. At the age of four he learned to play the guitar from his father, who owned a music store. When he was twelve years old he was already playing with BB King, and at the age of 14 he was invited to provide musical accompaniment to a Fender event. After a band arrangement, he started a solo career that made him famous. His first album, A New Day Yesterday, was released in 2000. After a concert tour to promote the album, Joe and his fellow musicians went back into the studio in 2002 to record the next album, So It's Like That. The second album is more rock-oriented than his other works and reached number one on the Billboard blues charts. Over the next few years and albums, Joe and his band toured alongside BB King and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. In 2010, Joe Bonamassa joined forces with Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian to form the band Black Country Communion, who have released five albums to date. Joe is not only a gifted guitarist, but also a passionate collector of guitars.

Joe's signature and high end electric guitars

Joe mostly plays Fender Stratocaster guitars and various Gibson models, such as the Les Paul and ES-335. He is also a Gibson endorser and therefore regularly receives signature models from Gibson and Epiphone, which are also available on the market. Of course, Joe also plays other models, such as the Fender Telecaster and the Gibson SG. Here we have put together the right high-end instruments for the perfect Bonamassa sound.

Welcome to Nerdville

In addition to being a guitarist, singer, composer and songwriter, Joe is also a world-class guitar collector. His collection is so large that he has his own flat for it, which Joe aptly nicknamed "Nerdville East". In the video to the right, Joe takes you on a tour of "Nerdville" and you can learn more about Joe's guitars, amps and other gear that has shaped his sound as we know and love it.

Joes signature models

In addition to the Fender Stratocaster, Joe also has a penchant for Gibson guitars. It is therefore not surprising that he already has a number of Gibson and Epiphone signature models that are modelled after historic Gibson electric guitars. These include models of the Les Paul, ES-335, as seen on the left, and SG. However, these instruments are no longer available, so when a new signature model from Joe comes onto the market, you will of course find it here at session.
