About Susan Tedeschi

Susan Tedeschi was born on 9 November 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts and is a multiple Grammy award-winning American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. She was born into a musical family and founded her first band, The Smoking Section, at the age of 13. As she was interested in the blues scene in Boston and blues music in general from a very early age, she attended the famous Berklee College of Music after school, the same college that John Mayer, among others, went to.

You don't play the blues with your hands, but with your soul. Susan Tedeschi is a master of this art. Her extraordinary voice is often described as a mixture of Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin, both singers are also among Susan's greatest idols.

In 1994, she founded the Susan Tedeschi Band, whose second album Just Won't Burn was enthusiastically received and brought her her first commercial success. The band went on a US tour and performed with John Mellencamp, B.B. King, Bob Dylan, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal and the Allman Brothers Band, among others. In 2001 Susan married the guitarist Derek Trucks, who is also a successful blues musician. Motherhood and family life initially prompted her to retire from the stage, during which time she concentrated mainly on studio recordings.
In 2010, Susan and Derek decided to form a band together. After a successful tour, the Tedeschi Trucks Band released their first album in 2011. The album, called Revelator was internationally successful and reached number 1 in the blues charts in the USA as well as other official chart positions, for example in New Zealand and Germany. In 2012, it won a Grammy in the Best Blues Album category. The band's third album, Made Up Mind, was released in August 2013 and received two Blues Music Awards in 2014. Susan Tedeschi also received the award for best blues singer. To date, the family band has released eleven albums.
