What exactly is rock music?
Rock music, or rock for short, serves as a generic term for musical styles that have developed since the late 1960s from the mixing of rock 'n' roll of the late 1950s and early 1960s with other musical styles such as blues.
Since then , completely new instruments had to be invented to accommodate the new style of music, which would have been unthinkable without electrical amplification . In 1950, inventor Leo Fender invented the Telecaster, the first massive solid-body electric guitar, which reduced the annoying feedback that consistently occurred with guitars with full resonator bodies. In 1951 he set another benchmark with the first electric bass. Gibson quickly followed suit with the Les Paul models in 1952 and the simpler SG models in 1961. Since 1962, Jim Marshall has been providing the necessary volume with his amplifiers and speakers produced in England. Ernie Ball replaced the previously used banjo strings with thinner, easier-to-play examples, which were now produced specifically for electric guitars and basses.
Over the decades, rock music has constantly changed and developed. For example , numerous subgenres such as alternative rock, grunge and punk were formed, which became particularly popular in the 90s and 2000s.
