session has been your trusted music retailer for over 40 years. Born out of passion and still there for you today with the same enthusiasm for all your musical needs.
We're no longer the little shop we once were - a lot has happened since the ball started casters / wheels in 1979. You can take a look at the most important stages in our company history here:
1979
Harry Schubkegel founded “Session Musik” in Wiesloch as a meeting place for musicians. In addition to coffee, nice conversations and jam sessions, you could also buy strings and saxophone reeds there.
1982
cover the new business premises in Walldorf with a size of 500 m 2 and expand the product range. The building was repeatedly expanded to include several halls until 1994.
1988
A boutique for unusual stage clothing opened in Session Musik's premises, which met with a positive response across the country and was also able to convince one or two prominent customers.
2004
In April, after a lot of back and forth and extensive renovation work, the large PA hall was completed.
2008
After almost 30 years, Harry Schubkegel decided to sell the company and Session Musik became s-music GmbH & Co. KG.
2009
The Frankfurt family company Musik Schmidt, founded in 1918 and with a good reputation throughout the Rhine-Main area, became part of session. In addition to a branch in Frankfurt, the company also grew to include a national online shop.
2010
With the help of our constantly growing YouTube channel , on which we regularly introduce new products and present tips and tricks from our professionals, we are able to expand our range immensely.
2012
In May, the new company headquarters was opened in Walldorf, not far from the “old session”. In addition to the shop, the central administration and a restaurant-café are also housed there.
2014
In late summer, after extensive renovation work, the Frankfurt branch was reopened in new splendor, now with larger sales areas.
2019
session celebrated the company's 40th anniversary. To mark the occasion there was a big celebration on the grounds of the Walldorf branch.
2020
Musik Produktiv, along with its offering and expertise, became the newest member of the s-music Group, making us as a company even better for you.
2022
By building a new online shop, we are confidently entering a new era for session.
2024
With the opening of a cutting-edge, environmentally conscious warehouse next to our flagship store in Walldorf, we are setting new standards in sustainability and efficiency. Equipped with solar panels and energy-optimized technology, the new warehouse allows us to process orders faster and more eco-friendly. This step strengthens our commitment to sustainable logistics while continuing to provide our customers with the best service – now greener and more efficient than ever.
