Taylor Studio

The 300 and 400 series models from Taylor are among the most popular acoustic guitars ever and are popular with professionals and hobby musicians alike. The new Studio line offers the same high-quality tonewoods and patented V-Class bracing of these two series at a more affordable price without sacrificing the usual Taylor sound quality. With the excellent sound of the solid tonewoods, the slim neck and the attractive finish, the Grand Auditorium Studio models offer an attractive pro-level offering at an excellent price-performance ratio.

The perfect workhorse for any situation

Featuring solid tonewoods and tone-enhancing bracing, Taylor Studio guitars make the sound of the pros more accessible than ever. The solid torrefied Sitka spruce top offers powerful projection and a warm, recorded sound thanks to Taylor's special roasting process, while the patented V-Class bracing provides higher volume, longer sustain and better balance between notes across the fretboard.
A narrower nut width of 44.4 mm (1 11/16") and a slimmer neck profile make for smooth playing across the neck, and the built-in ES2 electronics make it easy to plug in and play amplified.

Sound characteristics and finish

The Studio models all have Taylor's most popular body shape: Grand Auditorium. These versatile, comfortable acoustic guitars feature the aforementioned torrefied Sitka spruce top and solid Sapele or rosewood back and sides. The 300 Studio models have a body made of Sapele, the 400 models a body made of rosewood. Elegant, eye-catching visual details such as the optional natural or shaded edge burst lacquered top and the glossy finish round off the equipment package of the Studio models and offer a stage-ready look that complements their rich voice.

Which wood is right for me?

This depends on several factors. You should bear in mind that although the body and top wood determines the basic sound, you can vary this considerably depending on your playing style and how hard you play. So be sure to seek advice at one of our branches in Frankfurt or Walldorf if you are still unsure. You can get a first insight into the tonewoods of the Taylor Studio models here:

Sapele

An alternative tonewood that originates from Central Africa and has been used by Taylor for over a decade. It is sometimes incorrectly referred to as African mahogany because it is very similar to the West African wood khaya, known commercially as African mahogany. Sapele is a very sustainable, relatively fast-growing wood. In terms of sound, it offers everything that mahogany can, just with a little more pep in the trebles. Due to its fast growth, Taylor will be able to offer this wood for a long time to come.

Fits well with almost all playing styles. Like ovangkol, it's a great all-purpose tonewood that delivers a balanced, pleasing tone in a variety of playing applications, from fingerstyle to strumming.

Indian Rosewood

As one of the most popular guitar woods of all time, rosewood fundamentally corresponds to the sound of mahogany and expands it in the mid and bass range. Rosewood sounds deeper and brighter in the trebles, which are lively and articulate. The less pronounced midrange distinguishes rosewood from mahogany. In some musical circles, for example in certain Americana styles, rosewood has an iconic status. Rosewood is a versatile tonewood, which has contributed to its popularity. It is suitable for strumming, picking as well as flatpicking.

Fits well with most playing styles. If you like a guitar with full basses and bright trebles, rosewood is just the thing. If you are looking for a traditional sound, a Grand Auditorium made of rosewood is just right for you.
