Taylor Legacy Collection
This family of retro guitars honours the legacy of Taylor founders Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug and their contribution to the world of guitar making with models that reflect Bob's early inspirations and design innovations. The new guitars embody the spirit of Taylor Guitars and are reminiscent of Bob Taylor's first model compositions. The Legacy models are based on guitars from the 500, 700 and 800 Series.
The first 100 guitars built of each model feature an inside label personally signed by Taylor founders Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug.

Bob Taylor and the history of the company
Bob Taylor had been fascinated by guitars since he was a teenager and built his first dreadnought guitar at the age of 16. At the age of 18, Bob Taylor began working at American Dream, a music shop. When the company owner decided to sell the business in 1974, Bob Taylor, Kurt Listug and Steve Schemmer bought it out, laying the foundation for what would later become Taylor Guitars.

Extraordinary guitars conquer the world
Bob focussed on building acoustic guitars, combining high-quality materials and fine woods with precision craftsmanship. The new Taylor Guitars brand was soon recognised as a manufacturer of instruments with exceptionally good sound and playing characteristics. Added to this was the use of innovative manufacturing techniques and special design features, such as the patented Taylor neck. Special pickup systems made the products very popular with amateur musicians and professional artists, especially for live performances.
A new series to honour Taylor's history
We are pleased to present the new Taylor Legacy collection of five acoustic models that honour Taylor's long history. Three of these are redesigned rosewood/spruce models from the iconic 800 Series, which hark back to some of Bob Taylor's earliest guitars. The other two centre on Bob's flagship Grand Auditorium body, which defined the modern Taylor sound. These two models are based on guitars from the 500 and 700 series. Inspired by Bob's original models, these retro models reflect the full range of Taylor Guitars' history by combining fundamental design elements with key developmenmts that have been made along the way.
