Taylor Gold Label Collection
Turning old into new
With a new body design, new neck joint, new top bracing and a new visual design, Taylor's Gold Label Collection offers a stunning sound unlike anything Taylor has ever produced - the Taylor Gold Label Collection is more reminiscent of flattop guitars from the 1930s and 1940s.

Andy’s recipe for a new/old voice
The Gold Label Collection is being introduced as a premium-performance offering within the Taylor lineup but with a unique design identity. The collection launches with two wood pairings: Honduran rosewood with torrefied Sitka spruce and figured Hawaiian koa with torrefied Sitka spruce.
Taylor chief guitar designer Andy Powers wanted a warmer, older, “heritage” sound for this collection - something from more than a generation earlier than when Taylor Guitars was founded (1974); more reminiscent of traditional flattop tone from the 1930s - but with the established benefits of V-Class including improved volume, sustain, responsiveness and pitch accuracy between notes.
When Andy Powers unveiled his V-Class bracing architecture in 2018, it was touted as a “new sonic engine” that offered a highly adaptable musical platform to voice Taylor’s guitars in dramatically different ways. With Taylor’s new Gold Label Collection, Andy has pushed into new sonic terrain for Taylor - inspired by an older, more traditional sound. The guitars in the collection combine several new design elements that contribute to the sound - a new Super Auditorium body style, a unique V-Class-inspired bracing pattern, and a new long tenon neck joint -plus a new decorative aesthetic.

“The harder you play, the louder the guitar gets, but it naturally starts to compress the sound into a more controlled, focused tone rather than becoming mushy. Yet these guitars also respond to delicate articulation with a broadly rich voice. When you play a simple note softly, the guitar naturally amplifies it with surprising warmth and volume.”

The new design details of the Gold Label Collection
- A new Super Auditorium shape: The proportions resemble Taylor’s Grand Auditorium, but the body is slightly longer and the lower bout is slightly wider
- New Fanned V-Class bracing: This V-Class variant features a fan-like arrangement of braces in the soundboard’s lower bout. They are also set in place using traditional hot hide glue
- A new long-tenon neck joint: The long-tenon’s enhanced wood coupling translates into greater low-end resonance and a sound some might compare to historic guitars featuring dovetailstyle neck joints
