Redwood Student classical guitars

Perfectly suited to getting started with guitar playing, Redwood classical guitars offer a well-rounded combination of comfort, playability and sound quality with excellent workmanship and at the same time attractive pricing. This makes learning easy, the development of your talent uninhibited and your enthusiasm for the hobby maintained.

The easy introduction to playing the guitar

If you want to learn to play the guitar, you should choose an instrument that sounds pleasant, is easy to play and offers enough space on the fretboard to make it easier to sort out your fingers when playing chords that may initially seem like a contortion. A good choice is therefore a classical concert guitar. Its wide fretboard and thicker, softer nylon strings make it easier for your fingers to get used to the unfamiliar strain.

Another important aspect is the correct size. You shouldn't have to stretch uncomfortably because the guitar neck is too long. Conversely, you shouldn't have to deal with too little space between the frets because the neck is too short. The Redwood Student is therefore available in five different sizes so that you can play in a comfortable, natural position.

1/4 size

With a scale length of 530 mm, the size 1/2 models are particularly suitable for heights of 120-140cm or an age of approx. 7-9 years.

The ‘scale length’ is the length of the strings from the lower end at the bridge to the upper end at the nut. It forms the area to be strung, so it should be comfortably within your range 😉

1/2 size

With a scale length of 530 mm, the size 1/2 models are particularly suitable for body heights of 120-140 cm or an age of approx. 7-9 years.

The strings are attached to the bridge at the lower end, where they transmit their vibration to the top of the guitar, the part of the body facing forwards, also known as the body. In this way, the sound of the strings is amplified.

3/4 size

With a scale length of 590 mm, the size 3/4 models are particularly suitable for body heights of 130-150 cm or an age of approx. 10-13 years.

The strings run over the saddle at the upper end to the machine heads, which are used to tune the instrument.

7/8 size

With a scale length of 630 mm, the size 7/8 models are particularly suitable for body heights of 140-160 cm or an age of 11-14 years.

Fusion CEQ

In the full 4/4 size, we also offer the Student Plus as a Fusion CEQ version. This is equipped with a cutaway (C) and offers a pickup system with equaliser (EQ).

A good start, not just for the beginning!

But the Redwood Student isn't just a guitar to dip your toe in the water and see if playing guitar is even for you. It is a serious musical instrument that offers even experienced musicians everything they need! All frets on all models are rounded to a high quality and make it a pleasure to let your hand slide along the neck , without the scratchy feeling that you often expect from “cheap” guitars.

Not standard on classical guitars, Redwood Student instruments have a truss rod. Since wood is a natural product, changes in climatic conditions, for example due to travel, can cause the technically necessary neck curvature to change slightly in one direction or the other, so that the strings flatter or higher above the fretboard . The truss rod allows the string position to be adjusted using an adjusting screw below the sound hole.

Comfortable playing experience

The models in sizes 7/8 and 4/4 have an ‘armrest’. This is a bevelled support surface on the edge of the body on which the right arm can rest comfortably when playing. This means that even longer practice sessions do not lead to numb fingers or pressure points.

Another ‘plus’

Models with the addition ‘Plus’ in the name have a solid cedar top, which provides an even clearer sound with even more punch.

Fits well in everyone's hands

The nut width (that is the width of the neck at the top) is 48 mm for the 1/2 and 2/3 models. Ideal for smaller hands.

In the 4/4 size, you can choose between a comfortable 52 mm (Student), 50 mm (Student Plus) or fast 48 mm (Student SN and Fusion), depending on your preferred feel.

So whether you want to start from scratch and get started or are looking for an inexpensive instrument for on the go or at your second home: Redwood 's student concert guitars offer everything you need with their attractive price and excellent power !
