Design and features of the Maybach Capitol
The semi-acoustic design offers the best of both worlds. On the one hand, it creates an acoustically inspired, open and transparent sound that only a resonance chamber as large as the one inside a Capitol '59 can produce. On the other hand, a centre block integrated into the body ensures that you can enjoy this sound even at high stage volumes without your performance being ruined by feedback or clipping.
The Maybach Capitol '59 is in the tradition of the 1959 model year, undoubtedly the best model year for this type of guitar. The historically correct curvature of the maple top and back, the matching shape of the two cutaways, the traditionally precise F-holes and the glued-in mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard promise only the best at first glance. This impression is confirmed when the end fifties neck profile of the Capitol '59 rests gently in your hand. The icing on the cake is the excellent Spirit of '59 pickups from the German manufacturer Amber, which perfectly complement the vintage sound.
Colours and finishes
Maybach finishes all instruments in the Capitol series with nitrocellulose lacquer, which allows the body wood of the semi-acoustic guitar to breathe freely and ages much more beautifully than polyurethane finishes. Classic, lightly aged colours such as Pelham Blue, Antique Walnut, Cherry and Black were chosen for this iconic guitar. Each instrument in the Capitol series is supplied in a luxurious Maybach wooden case with leather tooling.
