New tonewoods in the Fender line up
The American Performer series from cult manufacturer Fender is the most affordable series of electric guitars and electric basses made in the famous factory in Corona, California. This popular series is now being expanded to include the American Performer Timber Collection: six classic Fender electric guitar models made from alternative woods that are otherwise rarely found in electric guitar construction. Spruce, sassafras and sugar pine give these new models a very special look and sound.
These guitars are equipped with Fender Yosemite single-coil pickups designed for rich, expressive tones. With flat-staggered pole pieces to increase output and a shellac coating that allows the coil to work optimally while reducing feedback, the Yosemite pickups produce dynamic sounds that are ideal for all musical applications. A push-pull tone control adds the neck pickup in any switch position, allowing you to discover completely new worlds of sound.

Sassafras
Sassafras is very popular with guitar makers, and for good reason. Aesthetically, it looks very similar to swamp ash with its familiar grain. Overall, sassafras sounds wider and with a more powerful low-mid range, while retaining the general assertiveness and punch that swamp ash is known for.
Spruce
Spruce is one of the most important tonewoods in acoustic guitar making and is often used for the tops of acoustic guitars. This relatively soft wood has hardly played a role in the area of solid body electric guitars until now - but it has - again as a top wood - in the area of fully resonant jazz guitars.
Sugar Pine
Sugar pine has long been popular as an alternative wood with some renowned electric guitar manufacturers. This wood impresses with its "well-rehearsed" sound, which is suitable for a variety of genres. Sugar pine is also used by other manufacturers for ST- and T-style electric guitar models.
